Bibhuti Bhusan Patel set to be Director in Defence Ministry

New Delhi: Bibhuti Bhusan Patel (IOFS) has been selected for the appointment as Director in the Ministry of Defence. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Patel has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Patel is an Indian Ordnance Factory Service (IOFS) officer of 2000-batch. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. Currently he is serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Defence Production. 

Education & background

Patel is a science graduate (B.Sc. Hons) from Jyoti Vihar Burla Government College, Sambalpur University, Odisha. He did his Masters in Science (M.Sc.) in chemistry from the same college.

Patel started his carrier as Technical Assistant in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. He has served as Technical Assistant and Assistant Manager (Works) in the Department of Defence Production & Supply, Pune. At the central level, he had served as Deputy Secretary & Director in the Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development in 2016.
