Bidyarani Konthoujam and Manoj C appointed as Directors in Election Commission

New Delhi: In a recent administrative development, the Government of India has announced the appointment of two senior officers to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Delhi, under the Central Staffing Scheme.

Bidyarani Konthoujam, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the 2009 batch (Customs & Indirect Taxes), has been selected for the post of Director in the Election Commission of India. Her appointment comes following a recommendation from the Department of Revenue. She will serve in the role for a period of five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The DoPT has directed that she be relieved of her current duties immediately to take up the new assignment.

Similarly, Manoj C, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 2011 batch from the AGMUT cadre, has also been appointed as Director in the Election Commission of India. His deputation was recommended by the Ministry of Home Affairs. He will also serve for a five-year term or until further orders, whichever comes earlier. He has been instructed to take up his new role in Delhi without delay.

Both appointments are part of routine administrative postings aimed at strengthening the functioning of the Election Commission of India, which plays a pivotal role in maintaining the democratic framework of the country.
