According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday, Mishra’s deputation tenure has been extended beyond November 16, 2026, for six months or until he is relieved to take up his new assignment as Minister (Economic and Commercial) at the Embassy of India in Tokyo, Japan, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The extension was approved by the ACC following a proposal submitted by the Department of Commerce through an office memorandum dated September 17, 2026.

The decision will enable Mishra to continue discharging his responsibilities in the Department of Commerce until his transition to the diplomatic assignment in Japan.

Mishra’s proposed posting in Tokyo will involve economic and commercial responsibilities at the Indian Embassy, a position associated with promoting bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between India and Japan.
