CG Rajini Kaanthan (IAS) gets tenure extension as Joint Secretary (MHA)

IAS officer CG Rajini Kaanthan, who is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been given a tenure extension for a period of two years

New Delhi: CG Rajini Kaanthan (IAS), who is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been given a tenure extension for a period of two years. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), the central government has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for extension in central deputation tenure of Kaanthan for a period of two years beyond November 8, 2021, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Kaanthan is a 2004-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Haryana cadre. He has been serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs since October 4, 2021.

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is mainly responsible for the maintenance of internal security and domestic policy. The Home Ministry is headed by Amit Shah. The ministry is also the cadre controlling authority for the Indian Police Service (IPS), DANIPS and DANICS. The Police-I Division of the ministry is the cadre controlling authority in respect of the Indian Police Service; whereas, the UT Division is the administrative division for DANIPS.
