New Delhi: Central Vigilance Commission's (CVC) Director Vivek Khare (ITS) has been given a tenure extension for a period of three months. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) for extension of tenure of the Central deputation of Khare for a further period of three months beyond June 23, 2021, i.e., his approved tenure of 7 years on Central deputation.
Khare is an Indian Telecommunications Service (ITS) officer of 1996-batch. He has been serving as Director in CVC since June 2019. Prior to this, he has served as Director in the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) is an apex governmental body created to address governmental corruption. The Parliament enacted a law conferring statutory status on the CVC in 2003. It has the status of an autonomous body, free of control from any executive authority, charged with monitoring all vigilance activity under the Central government, advising various authorities in the Central government organisations in planning, executing, reviewing and reforming their vigilance work.
