New Delhi: The Government of India has appointed Deep Shikha Sharma (IFoS) as the new Director of Census Operations (DCO) and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) for the state of Himachal Pradesh on Monday. Sharma is a 2011-batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer from the AGMUT cadre.

According to a communication issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 2, Sharma’s appointment will be effective until December 31, 2025, or until further orders—whichever is earlier. The DoPT conveyed to the Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh with instructions to relieve the officer immediately for her new assignment.

The appointment has been approved by the Competent Authority, and the officer is expected to join her new post within three weeks of the order’s issuance, in line with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet’s (ACC) guidelines.
