Govt appoints these IPS officers as Special Directors in the Intelligence Bureau

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the Prime Minister has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for the appointment of these four IPS officers as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau on Monday

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the Prime Minister has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for the appointment of these four officers as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau on Monday. Here is the list:-

1. Sunil Kumar Bansal (IPS) has been appointed to the post of Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. He has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of assumption of charge, for a tenure up-to his superannuation on June 30, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, by upgrading the post of Additional Director held by the officer. Bansal is a 1987-batch Indian Police Officer (IPS) of Odisha cadre. He is currently serving as an Additional Director in the same Department.

2. Akshaya Kumar Mishra (IPS) has been appointed to the post of Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB). He has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of assumption of charge, for a tenure up-to his superannuation on April 30, 2021, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, by upgrading the post of Additional Director held by the officer. Mishra is a 1987-batch Indian Police Officer (IPS) of Rajasthan cadre. He is currently serving as an Additional Director in the same Department.

3. A Sema Rajan (IPS) has been appointed to the post of Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB). He has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of assumption of charge, for a tenure up-to his superannuation on February 28, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, by upgrading the post of Additional Director held by the officer. Rajan is a 1987-batch Indian Police Officer (IPS) of Bihar cadre. He is currently serving as an Additional Director in the same Department.

4. Swagat Das (IPS) has been appointed to the post of Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB). He has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of assumption of charge, for a tenure up-to his superannuation on November 11, 2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, by upgrading the post of Additional Director held by the officer. Das is a 1987-batch Indian Police Officer (IPS) of Chattisgarh cadre. He is currently serving as an Additional Director in the same Department.

Intelligence Bureau (IB)

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) is India's domestic intelligence, internal security and counter-intelligence agency. It is reputed to be the oldest such organization in the world. Arvind Kumar, the current director of the IB, took over from Rajiv Jain on 26 June 2019.
