Govt appoints 6 officers as PS to Union Ministers in 2nd round of appointment

The Central Government has approved the appointment of several officers as Private Secretaries to Union Ministers in its 2nd round of appointment, effective on Friday

New Delhi: As the newly appointed Union Ministers have taken their charge, the Centre has initiated the process of appointing/re-appointing Private Secretaries to them. In the first round of appointments/re-appointments, which occurred on June 20, Private Secretaries to Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Manohar Lal Khattar, Giriraj Singh, and Hardeep Singh Puri were named. Subsequently, in the second round, six officers have been named as Private Secretaries to Union Ministers. Here is the full list:

Dr S Tejaswi Naik (IAS) has been appointed as Private Secretary to the Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy in the Ministry of Heavy Industries. According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Naik has been appointed to the post at the level of Director with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post and for the period upto December 14, 2027 (i.e. for the balance period of his tenure of five years as Private Secretary) of on co-terminus basis or till he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Naik is a 2009-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. Previously, he was serving as Private Secretary to Arjun Munda in the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.

SS Nakul (IAS), a 2010-batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, has been re-appointed as Private Secretary to Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Ministry of Finance. According to the DoPT order, Nakul has been re-appointed to the post at the level of Director with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post and for the period up to January 24, 2026 (i.e. for the balance period of his tenure of five years as Private Secretary) or on co-terminus basis or till he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister or until further whichever is earlier.

Takhat Singh Ranawat (IFoS) has been appointed as Private Secretary to Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy in the Ministry of Steel. He has been appointed to the post at Director level with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post and for the period up to November 24, 2026 (i.e. for the balance period of his tenure of five years as Private Secretary) or on co-terminus basis or till he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Ranawat is a 2007-batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer of Karnataka cadre. Previously, he was posted as Private Secretary to Shobha Karandlaje.

Chaudhari Uday Gaurishankar (IAS) has been appointed as Private Secretary to the Union Minister CR Patil in the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation. He has been appointed to the post at the level of Director with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post. and for the period up to June 23, 2026 (i.e. for the balance period of his five years central deputation tenure) or on co-terminus basis or till he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Gaurishankar is a 2010-batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre. Previously, he was serving as Private Secretary to Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

Anirudh Sravan Pulipaka (IAS) has been re-appointed as the Private Secretary to the Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. According to the DoPT order, Pulipaka has been re-appointed to the post at the level of Deputy Secretary with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post and for a period up to September 26 (i.e. for the balance period of his tenure of five years as Private Secretary) or on co-terminus basis till he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister or until further orders, whichever event occurs the earliest.

Pulipaka is a 2011-batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre. Previously, he was serving as Private Secretary to Nirmala Sitharaman in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

Vinay Kaushal (IRS) has been appointed as Private Secretary to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. According to the DoPT order, Kaushal has been appointed to the post at the level of Deputy Secretary with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post and for the period up to January 27, 2027 (i.e. for the balance period of his tenure of five years as Private Secretary) or on co-terminus basis or till he ceases to function as Private Secretary) to the Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Kaushal is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS IT) officer of 2011-batch. Previously, he was serving as Private Secretary to Anurag Thakur in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
