Govt appoints Dr Tina Soni (IAS) as Director in Cabinet Secretariat

New Delhi: The competent authority has approved the proposal of Cabinet Secretariat for re-designation of the post of Deputy Secretary, presently held by Dr Tina Soni (IAS) as Director, as a measure personal to her. She has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post on or after January 1, 2021, and for a period up to March 6, 2023, i.e. total tenure of five years under the central staffing scheme. Soni counts her deputation tenure with effect from March 7, 2018. She is a 2007-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Rajasthan cadre. Presently, she is serving as Deputy Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat since December 2017. 

In another order issued on the same day, the competent authority has also approved the proposal of the Department of Commerce for re-designation of the post of Deputy Secretary, presently held by Steephen L (IRS) in the Department of Commerce, as Director as a measure personal to him. He has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post subsequent to issue of this order but not before January 1, 2021, and for a period up to January 26 2022 i.e. total tenure of five years under the central staffing scheme. He counts his central deputation tenure with effect from January 27, 2017.

It comprises a set of two buildings on opposite sides of Rajpath which are home to some of the most important ministries of the Government of India, situated on Raisina Hill, New Delhi, India.
