• The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of three women officers as Director in the CVC

• Shipra Sharma (lPoS), Sindhu Pillai (IPS) and M Janaki (IAS) will be the new directors in CVC

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of these three officers as Director in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) on a lateral shift basis:

1. Shipra Sharma (lPoS) has been appointed to the post of Director in the Central Vigilance Commission (Non-CSS post) on a lateral shift basis for a period up to March 1, 2023 (i.e. combined tenure of 7 years) from the date of taking over the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Sharma is an India Postal Service Officer (IPoS) of 2002-batch. She is currently serving as Director in the Ministry of Shipping.

2. Sindhu Pillai (IPS) has been appointed to the post Director in the Central Vigilance Commission (Non-CSS post) on a lateral shift basis for a period up to December 29, 2022 (i.e. combined tenure of 7 years) from the date of taking over the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Pillai is a 2001-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of AGMUT cadre. She is currently serving as Director in the Department of Financial Service under the Ministry of Finance.

3. M Janaki (IAS) has been appointed to the post of Director in the Central Vigilance Commission (Non-CSS post) on a lateral shift basis. She has been appointed to the post for a period of up to 11.09.2021, extendable up to 11.09.2023 (7 years) on availability of cadre clearance, from the date of taking over the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Central Vigilance Commission (CVC)

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) is an apex governmental body created to address governmental corruption. The Parliament enacted a law conferring statutory status on the CVC in 2003. It has the status of an autonomous body, free of control from any executive authority, charged with monitoring all vigilance activity under the Central government, advising various authorities in the Central government organisations in planning, executing, reviewing and reforming their vigilance work.
