Govt approves 3 Additional Secretary level appointments on Thursday

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of three IAS officers on Additional Secretary level on Thursday.

Rakesh Kumar Verma (IAS) has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

Rakesh is a 1993-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Punjab cadre. Presently, he is serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism.

Suman Billa (IAS) has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism. He has been appointed to the post in place of Rakesh Kumar Verma (IAS) upon his appointment as Additional Secretary in the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, by continuing the temporary upgradation of the Joint Secretary level post held by him.

Billa is a 1996-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Kerala cadre.

Aradhana Patnaik (IAS) has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Health & Family Welfare. Patnaik is a 1998-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Jharkhand cadre. Presently, she is posted as Joint Secretary in the Department of Health & Family Welfare.

The ACC has also approved in-situ upgradation of the following officers to the level of Additional Secretary to the Government of India as a measure personal to them by temporarily upgrading the posts held by them:

Himani Pande (IAS) has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Pande is a 1998-batch IAS officer of Jharkhand cadre. Presently, she is serving as Joint Secretary in DPIIT.

Kamal Kishore Soan (IAS) has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Labour & Employment. Soan is also a 1998-batch IAS officer of Jharkhand cadre. Presently, he is posted as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Labour & Employment.
