New Delhi: India Trade Promotion Organisation's (ITPO) Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) LC Goyal has been given another tenure extension on his post for a period of one year. This is the fifth extension of Goyal as CMD of ITPO. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Wednesday has approved extension in tenure of Goyal as CMD of ITPO for a period of one year beyond September 1, 2021, up to September 1, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Goyal is a 1979-batch retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Kerala cadre. He has been serving as the Chairman & Managing Director of the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) since September 2015. Prior to joining ITPO, he has held as the Union Home Secretary in 2015 apart from holding several key positions at the Centre and in the State of Kerala.
ITPO, the premier trade promotion agency of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. It provides a wide spectrum of services to trade and industry and acts as a catalyst for the growth of India's trade.
ITPO approves holding of international trade fairs in India and regulates holding of various expositions in India primarily to avoid any duplication of efforts while ensuring proper timing. It manages India's world-class exhibition complex which is constantly upgraded to keep it in a high standard of readiness. Spread over 123 acres of prime land in the heart of India's capital, New Delhi, Pragati Maidan.
