K Sanjay Murthy assumes additional charge as DSEL Secretary

New Delhi: K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of Department of Higher Education, has been given the additional charge of the Secretray post at the Department of School Education and Literacy from October 22 to October 30 in the absence of IAS Anita Karwal. "The Competent Authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy to Shri K. Sanjay Murthy, lAS (HP:1989), Secretary, Department of Higher Education from 22.10.2022 to 30.10.2022 during the period of absence on leave of Ms Anita Karwal, lAS (GJ 1988)," said the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

Murthy belongs to the Indian Administrative Services, Himachal Pradesh Cadre (1989). He did his graduation in engineering. He has diverse experience of more than 30 years across sectors like power, urban development, information broadcasting, information technology and education sector for both Central and state government in various capacities.

Before joining NICDC, he worked as an Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, responsible for urban transport, Delhi Development Authority and NBCC. Murthy has actively participated in various field assignments which include serving as a Deputy Commissioner of three districts in Himachal Pradesh, handling development, revenue administration and other regulatory functions.
