New Delhi: Koottil Variam Ajith has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence. According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Ajith has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Ajith is an Indian Supply Service officer of 2009-batch. He was recommended for the Central deputation by the Department of Commerce. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Defence," the order further read.

The President of India is the ceremonial commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the country. The Ministry of Defence provides policy framework and resources to the armed forces to discharge their responsibility in the context of the defence of the country.
