New Delhi: Kushagra Mittal has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Mittal has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Mittal is an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer of 2010-batch. He was recommended for the central deputation by the Ministry of Railways.

Kushagra originally belongs to Uttarakhand and he did his 10+2 in PCM from Government Inter College which situated in Sultanpur, a village in Udhamsinghnagar. Later he did B.Tech Mechanical Engineering from MNNIT, Allahabad. He started his career from Maharatna PSU BHEL, where he worked from July 2005 to June 2010 as a senior engineer. At BHEL he was responsible for designing and solid modelling of High-temperature piping for thermal power plants of 250 to 800 MWe capacity.

August 2010 Kishagra got selected for Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS). After 2 years of training, he was posted as Asst Operations Manager (Movement). There he had the responsibility of planning and executing Railways' freight train movement across 1600 km of Ahmedabad division of WR and manage interchange with other Zones of IR and divisions of WR. In December 2013 he got promoted as to Divisional Operations Manager. As DOM he looked after complete railway operations in both passenger and freight segment, managing assets like rolling stock, locomotives, track and most importantly more than 1200 ministerial and field employees, managing tenders and contracts, promotions and transfers of employees. In March 2019 he was promoted as Senior Divisional Commercial Manager.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) is a ministry of the government. It is responsible for the exploration, production, refining, distribution, marketing, import, export, and conservation of petroleum, natural gas, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas in India.
