New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the re-designation of the post of Deputy Census Officer/District Census Registrar (DCO/DCR), Haryana, held by Lalit Jain, IAS (Himachal Pradesh cadre: 2011), elevating it from the Deputy Secretary level to the Director level under the Office of the Registrar General of India (RGI).
According to an official order, the re-designation will take effect from the date Shri Jain assumes charge of the re-designated post. The approval is valid for a period up to December 6, 2026, corresponding to the admissible three-year tenure as DCO/DCR, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Jain has been on central deputation with effect from December 7, 2023. The decision follows a proposal submitted by the Office of the Registrar General of India and has been approved by the competent authority.
