New Delhi: The Government of India has approved the appointment of Mashhood Ur Rehman Farooqui, IRS (C&IT, 2009 batch), as Director in the National Health Authority (NHA) – Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission under the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Delhi.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on October 8, 2025, the appointment has been made under the Central Staffing Scheme. Farooqui’s tenure will be co-terminus with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, and it may be extended up to the admissible tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The DoPT order further directs that Farooqui be relieved of his present duties immediately to enable him to assume his new role. As per the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) guidelines, officers appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme are required to join their posts within three weeks from the date of the appointment order, failing which the process of debarment from the scheme will be initiated.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), implemented by the National Health Authority, aims to create a robust digital health ecosystem in India by connecting healthcare providers and recipients through digital health IDs and interoperable platforms.
