New Delhi: MK Aravind Kumar (IAS) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Power. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), the central government has approved the appointment of Kumar as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Power, Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Aravind Kumar is a 2011-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Punjab cadre. He is currently serving as Special Secretary-cum-Director in the Department of Employment Generation and Training, Govt of Punjab. Prior to this, he was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab.

The Ministry of Power is a Government of India's Ministry. The ministry is charged with overseeing electricity production and infrastructure development that includes generation, transmission, and delivery. The Ministry carries out maintenance projects as well. India faces challenges in electrical supply and delivery and is often unable to meet demand, even in large cities.
