Nasir Kamal (IPS) appointed as Director General in BCAS

New Delhi: Nasir Kamal (IPS) has been appointed as Director General in the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Saturday approved the proposal of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) for the appointment of Kamal on the said post. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Nasir has been appointed to the post for a period up to his superannuation on July 31, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Kamal is a 1986-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Currently, he is serving as Director of the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science. Prior to this, he was serving as Special Director General in the Border Security Force (BSF). As Director-General of BCAS, Kamal will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the National Civil Aviation Security Programme.

Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS)

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is an attached office of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. It is the regulatory authority for civil aviation security in India. It is headed by an officer of the rank of Director General of Police, who is designated as Director-General of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. The Director-General of BCAS is the appropriate authority for the implementation of security, safeguarding international civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference.
