Nila Mohanan (IAS) set to be Deputy Secretary in DoPT

Nila Mohanan (IAS), who was recommended for Central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT)

New Delhi: Nila Mohanan (IAS) is set to be Deputy Secretary in the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT). She was recommended for the Central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). According to an order issued on September 9, she has been selected for appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Nila is a 2007-batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of AGMUT cadre. She is currently serving as Secretary in the Health Department, Government of Goa.

Nila's profile & background

Hailing from Kerala, Nila had completed her BA (Honours) in Political Science from Lady Shriram College of Delhi University. She also completed her MA in International Relations and M Phil in International Politics from School of International Studies (SIS) of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. She had served on various important positions in the state government of Goa. She has been working in Goa for the past five years. She is the daughter of noted journalist K P Mohanan.

Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT)

Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) is concerned with the formulation of policy and the watchdog of the Government ensuring that certain accepted standards and norms, as laid down by it, are followed by all ministries and departments in the recruitment, regulation of service conditions and posting transfers and deputation of personnel as well as other related issues. It solely controls the cadres of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Central Secretariat Service (CSS).
