Piyush Goyal (IAS) assumes charge as Secretary of Ministry of Mines

Piyush Goyal (IAS) has taken charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Mines with effect from September 4

New Delhi: Piyush Goyal, a 1994-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Nagaland cadre, has taken charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Mines.

Before this appointment, Goyal was serving as Chief Executive Officer of the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, where he was responsible for strengthening data and intelligence integration frameworks.

He succeeds VL Kantha Rao, a 1992-batch IAS officer, who has moved to the role of Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
