The Central Government has approved the re-designation of Poonam Meena (IRS) as Director in Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

New Delhi: The Central Government has approved the proposal for the re-designation of the post of Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, currently held by Poonam Meena (IRS), as Director in the same Ministry.

As per the official notification, this re-designation has been granted as a personal measure to Poonam Meena with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the re-designated post. The tenure of the appointment will extend until January 26, 2027, completing a total period of five years under the Central Staffing Scheme.

Meena is a 2011-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer from the Customs and Indirect Taxes cadre. She has been serving in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare since January 27, 2022, under central deputation. Her re-designation as Director is expected to further strengthen the administrative leadership in the ministry, ensuring continuity in key policy initiatives and programs.
