New Delhi: Prakash Khichi (CPES) has been selected for the appointment as Director in the Government eMarketplace (GeM) under the Department of Commerce. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Khichi has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Khichi is a Central Power Engineering Service (CPES) officer. He is currently serving as Director (Grid Management Division) in the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Department of Commerce," the order further read.

Government eMarketplace (GeM) is an online platform for public procurement in India. The initiative was launched on August 9, 2016, by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and Modi government with the objective to create an open and transparent procurement platform for government buyers.
