New Delhi: The Central government has approved the appointment of Rajat Kumar Saini (IAS) as Director in the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Saini has been appointed to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Saini is a 2007-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Telangana Cadre. Presently, he is posted as Director of the Office of the Chief Commissioner, Land Administration Department in the government of Telangana. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade," the order further reads.
