Rajendra Ratnoo (IAS) gets additional charge as Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade for entrustment of the additional charge of the post of Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPOTM), Mumbai to Rajendra Ratnoo (IAS). According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Ratnoo has been given additional charge of the post for a period of six months with effect from November 16, 2020, or till the post is filled up on regular basis or until further orders, whichever is the earlier.

Ratnoo is a 2001-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks

The Office of the Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM) is a subordinate office under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. The Controller General administers the working of the Patents Act, 1970, the Trade Marks Act, 1999, the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999 and the Designs Act, 2000 and also renders advice to the government on matters relating to Intellectual property rights.
