RK Chaturvedi (IAS) gets additional charge as Secretary of Department of Fertilizers

New Delhi: Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi (IAS) has been assigned the additional responsibility of Secretary of the Department of Fertilizers (DoF). He is currently serving as Secretary of the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), the government has approved the assignment of the additional charge of the post of Secretary of Department of Fertilizers to Chaturvedi upon the superannuation of Chhabilendra Roul (IAS) on December 31. He has been given additional charge of the post till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Chaturvedi is a 1987-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. He is serving as Secretary in the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals since June last year. Prior to joining the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, he was serving as Special Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Tourism and Culture. He had also worked as Chairman of CBSE and as Director-General in the National Skill Development Authority (NSDA). 

Department of Fertilizers (DoF)

The Department of Fertilizers (DoF) comes under the ambit of the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers which is headed by a Cabinet Minister who is assisted by two Ministers of State. The main objective of DoF is to ensure adequate and timely availability of fertilizers at affordable prices for maximising agricultural production in the country. The main functions of the Department include planning, promotion and development of the fertilizers industry, planning and monitoring of production, import and distribution of fertilizers and management of financial assistance by way of subsidy/concession for indigenous and imported fertilizers.
