New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Sameer Kumar Khare (lAS) as new Executive Director of Asian Development Bank (ADB), Manila. He has been appointed to the post for a tenure of three years with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Khare is a 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Assam cadre. He is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under Ministry of Finance.

Sameer Kumar Khare (lAS) profile

Sameer holds a B.Tech degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He also completed his postgraduation in Business Finance. Sameer has had extensive experience in development administration and policy formulation across various sectors in the government over the last three decades including finance, defence, food & public distribution, urban & rural development etc. His current work portfolio includes matters pertaining to IMF, IMF-SARTATC, Multilateral Development Banks (World Bank, ADB, AIIB, EBRD) and International Financial Institutions (IFAD, GCF, GEF, GFATM, GAVI, UNDP). He was Indian Sous Sherpa in G-20 and officiated as Co-chair in G20 Framework Working Group in 2016-17. He was Indian Director in SAARC Development Fund in 2016-17 and currently Indian Director in Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). He is Govt Nominee Director in United Bank of India and NIIF Trust Limited.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a regional development bank established on December 19, 1966, which is headquartered in the Ortigas Center located in the city of Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, Philippines. The company also maintains 31 field offices around the world to promote social and economic development in Asia. The bank admits the members of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP, formerly the Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East or ECAFE) and non-regional developed countries. From 31 members at its establishment, ADB now has 68 members.
