Sanjay Kumar Singh (IAS) assumes charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Steel

New Delhi: Sanjay Kumar Singh (IAS) has assumed charge as the Secretary in the Ministry of Steel in New Delhi on Thursday. Prior to his appointment in the Steel Ministry, he was serving as Secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances and Department of Pensions & Pensioners Welfare. In addition to this, he was also holding the additional charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region.

With his new role, Singh has succeeded the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT)'s Secretary PK Tripathi (IAS) who was also holding the additional charge of Secretary Steel. Sanjay Kumar Singh was appointed as Steel Secretary as part of a major top-level bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Central Government on December 27, 2021.

The Ministry of Steel is an executive branch agency of the Government of India that is responsible for formulating all policies regarding steel production, distribution and pricing in India.
