Sharmistha Maitra (IDES) set to be Director in the Ministry of Defence

Sharmistha Maitra (IDES), who was recommended for the central deputation, has been selected for the appointment as Director in the Ministry of Defence

New Delhi: Sharmistha Maitra (IDES) is set to be Director in the Ministry of Defence. She was recommended for the Central deputation by the Ministry of Defence. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Maitra has been recommended for the appointment under Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Maitra is an Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES) of 2005-batch. Previously, she was serving as Deputy Director General (DDG) in the Directorate General Defence Estates under Ministry of Defence.

Maitra is a science graduate (B.Sc). She also completed her post-graduation in arts and Masters of Philosophy (M. Phil). She has held various important positions such as Deputy Director (DE) Eastern Command, CEO of Cantonment Board, Jammu among others.

The Indian Armed Forces including Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard under the Ministry of Defences, are primarily responsible for ensuring the territorial integrity of the nation.
