Shoyabahmed Kalal (IES) & Rahul (IRTS) appointed as Deputy Secretary in NITI Aayog

Shoyabahmed Kalal (IES) and Rahul (IRTS) who were recommended for Central deputation by their respective Ministry or Department, have been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the NITI Aayog

New Delhi: Shoyabahmed Kalal (IES), who was recommended for Central deputation by the Department of Economic Affairs, has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the NITI Aayog. According to an order from the Department of Personnel Training (DoPT), he has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until furthers orders, whichever is earlier. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the NITI Aayog," the order mentioned.

Shoyabahmed Kalal's profile

Kalal is an Indian Economic Service (IES) officer of the 2011-batch. He is currently serving as Deputy Director in the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change. He is an Art Graduate (BA) and MA (Economics) from Karnatak University, Dharwad. Previously he had served as Assistant Director in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Environment & Forests.

Further, in another order issued on the same day, Rahul (IRTS) has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the NITI Aayog. He was recommended for the Central deputation by the Ministry of Railways. According to the order, he has also been selected for the appointment to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the NITI Aayog," the order mentioned.

NITI Aayog

The NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) is a policy think tank of the government. It was established with the aim to achieve sustainable development goals with cooperative federalism by fostering the involvement of state governments in the economic policy-making process using a bottom-up approach. Its initiatives include "15-year road map", "7-year vision, strategy, and action plan", AMRUT, Digital India, Atal Innovation Mission, Medical Education Reform, agriculture reforms etc.  The NITI Aayog council comprises all the state chief ministers, along with the chief ministers of Delhi and Puducherry, the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar, and a vice-chairman nominated by the Prime Minister.
