New Delhi: Surender Kumar (IPS) has been selected for the appointment as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure up to August 15, 2024, (combined tenure of 7 years on both Non-CSS and CSS posts put together) with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders whichever event takes place earlier.

Kumar is a 2007-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of AGMUT cadre. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Home Affairs," the order further read.

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is mainly responsible for the maintenance of internal security and domestic policy. The Home Ministry is headed by Amit Shah. The ministry is also the cadre controlling authority for the Indian Police Service (IPS), DANIPS and DANICS. The Police-I Division of the ministry is the cadre controlling authority in respect of the Indian Police Service; whereas, the UT Division is the administrative division for DANIPS.
