The state government of Odisha has announced the appointment of Suresh Chandra Mohapatra (IAS) as new Chief Secretary of the state

New Delhi: Suresh Chandra Mohapatra (IAS) is set to be the next Chief Secretary of Odisha as the state government announced his appointment recently. He is currently serving as Development Commissioner in the state. He has been appointed to the post with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post, i.e. January 1, 2021, till February 28, 2022, or further orders, whichever is earlier.

With the new assignment, Mohapatra will replace Asit Kumar Tripathy, who has been appointed as Chairman of Western Odisha Development Council (WODC). In addition, Tripathy has been given additional charge as Advisor to the Chief Minister on Regional Development, Tourism, Agribusiness and Industry. 

Mohapatra is a 1986-batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of Odisha cadre. He holds a graduate degree in Geology and post-graduate degree in Applied Geology with first division. Being a senior bureaucrat, he has held various important positions in the state government of Odisha.
