Retired IAS officer Tapan Ray has been appointed as an Independent Director on the Board of Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL)

New Delhi: Retired IAS officer Tapan Ray has been appointed as an Independent Director on the Board of Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL), is a natural gas transmission company, under the state government Gujarat. He has been appointed on the Board of the company for a tenure of five years with effect from January 5, 2022. This information has been shared by the Gujarat state-owned PSU in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Monday.

Ray is a retired IAS officer of 1982-batch. He has served for 35 years in the government having held various positions in the Ministries of Defence, Textiles, Power, Science & Technology, and Planning in the Government of India. He has been Principal Secretary of the Finance Department Government of Gujarat. He has corporate experience of over 15 years in various companies of the State Govt of Gujarat and the Central Government.

He has extensive experience in the fields of Finance, Economics, Technology, Law, Management Foreign Trade, Public Policy and Administration. He was Additional Secretary, Department of Electronics and IT, and held charge as DG National Informatics Centre (NIC) before taking over as Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

GSPL has been founded by Gujarat state government in 1979. The state owns 95 percent stake in the company.
