New Delhi: Vishnukanth PB (IA&AS) has been selected for appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Vishnukanth has been appointed to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Vishnukanth is an Indian Audit & Account Service (IA&AS) officer of the 2009 batch. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Department of Economic Affairs," the order added.

The Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance is responsible for advice on economic issues having a bearing on internal and external aspects of the Indian economy, including inflation, price control, foreign exchange management, Official Development Assistance and domestic finance.
