New Delhi: Sterlite Power, a global power transmission company, launched three Made-in-India products at GridTech 2019 that will help address the distribution losses and improve efficiencies. The company launched ACCC SILVASSA (HPC), Cable with CoExtruded Duct (CCD) and 96F OPGW Central Al clad Tube Design. The R&D team of the company has designed products that will help increase its market reach across 40 countries and are compliant to stringent global norms and usher greener options in the electricity value chain, a statement released by Sterlite said.

Products aimed at solving power delivery challenges

Talking about the products, Manish Agarwal, CEO Solutions Business, Sterlite Power said, "Indian cities are witnessing rapid urban evolution and there is an unprecedented need for reliable and quality power. Sterlite Power has been at the forefront of delivering next-generation solutions. All three products launched today are aimed at solving power delivery challenges in cities and enabling a smooth transition to our goal of building smart cities." Sterlite Power also showcased the three products at Gridtech, a three-day international conference and exhibition organised by PowerGrid.

Launches in line with govt vision to bring down AT&C

The government aims to cut aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses or distribution losses to less than 15 percent. According to data sourced from UDAY Scheme portal, AT&C losses in 26 states stand at 19.73 percent. AT&C losses includes technical loss, theft, inefficiency in billing and commercial loss (default in payment and inefficiency in collection).

ACCC SILVASSA (HPC)

The HPC is developed for 33 kV & 66 kV voltage class with the potential to double the capacity of existing lines without modifying the existing structures by lowering losses. Technical specification of the product ACCC SILVASSA development is for 33 kV & 66 kV. It comprises of Annealed aluminium with formed wire stranded on CFC core of 5.97 mm diameter with an overall diameter of 14.35 mm. This can bear a tensile strength of 67 kN. The maximum DC Resistance of ACCC Silvassa Conductor is 0.2286 Ω/Km. Max. continuous operating temperature 180 deg.C

CCD for HDD (Horizontal Direct drilling)

The compact and cost-effective solution is designed to be used during HDD and has a higher Ampacity than traditional cables laid in ducts. It also eases the installation process reducing RoW requirement Technical specification of the product 3-phase cores of stranded compact circular Aluminium conductor, conductors screened with extruded semiconducting compound Extruded XLPE insulated, insulation screened with extruded semiconducting compound, helically applied single layer of copper tape, cores laid up with Fillers Extruded PVC Type ST2 inner sheathed, Galvanized Steel Flat Strip/Wire armoured and overall PE Type ST-7 Sheath followed by extra Protective layer with better Abrasion Resistance Properties of HDPE compound generally confirming to IS: 7098-II

96Fiber OPGW – central Al clad tube design

This is smaller than most of the other 96 fiber designs with higher fiber count suitable for installation on towers of 66kV, 132kV and 220kV line. It also has a higher short circuit rating with high corrosion resistance.
