ALIMCO contributes Rs 1 crore, oxygen cylinders, ventilator to help nation fight COVID-19

The amount contributed by ALIMCO will be utilised in providing oxygen cylinders to hospitals, food packets, necessary items and equipment to fight the COVID-19 pandemic

New Delhi/Kanpur: In the current unprecedented pandemic situation where people are facing serious consequences due to COVID-19, ALIMCO management in coordination with District Administration Kanpur and Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College, Kanpur has decided to provide the necessary items and equipment related to COVID-19. The Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot has also given his consent to the ALIMCO management for extending all possible support and assistance to District Administration Kanpur and District Hospital Kanpur in the fight against COVID 19.

In this endeavour, ALIMCO's CMD DR Sarin, District Magistrate Kanpur Alok Tiwari and Principal of Medical College Kanpur Dr RB Kamal have consulted over the requirement and agreed to provide support by ALIMCO. For this novel cause, ALIMCO has provided a total of Rs 1 crore to Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College, Kanpur from its CSR fund that will be utilised in the following activities.

ALIMCO will provide oxygen cylinders to the hospitals out of which, 30 oxygen cylinders have already been provided. Further, the refilling of cylinders will be done in the coming days. 300 packets of food will be made available daily for 15 days to needy COVID-19 infected patients and their caretakers admitted to the District Hospital, Kanpur.

The medical appliance like oxygen concentrator, ventilator, monitoring equipments and other life-saving appliances will be provided to the District Hospital and about 500 PPE Kits will be given to the volunteers working at the funeral site.

In addition to the above, other units of ALIMCO at Ujjain (Nagda) in Madhya Pradesh will extend the support of Rs.40 lakh to the District administration for COVID 19 pandemic.

To continue these support activities as far as possible, the General Managers of ALIMCO Lt. Col. PK Dube (Retd.), Praveen Kumar and Atul Rustagi are working on war footing under their personal supervision over the progress.
