ATDC and SECL sign MoU to empower 400 unemployed youth in Chhattisgarh and MP

The vocational training initiative, part of SECL’s CSR programme, aims to benefit 400 unemployed youth from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, equipping them with skills essential for self-employment

New Delhi: In a strategic move aimed at empowering underprivileged youth from economically weaker sections, the Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC), Gurugram, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal. The agreement was formalized at a ceremony held at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, in the presence of Ms. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, and Ms. Santosh, Deputy Director General, Ministry of Coal.

The vocational training initiative, part of SECL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, aims to benefit 400 unemployed youth from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, equipping them with skills essential for self-employment. The project has a budget allocation of Rs. 3.12 crore.

Under the agreement, ATDC will establish training centres for 300 candidates in non-residential self-employed tailor programs across SECL’s operational areas, including Bishrampur, Sohagpur, and Korba. In addition, 100 candidates will participate in a fully residential program at the ATDC training centre in Chhindwada, Madhya Pradesh, with free boarding and lodging facilities. The beneficiaries will be selected from communities within a 25-kilometer radius of SECL’s establishments.

Rupinder Brar congratulated the SECL CSR team for its proactive approach and emphasized the importance of such forward-thinking initiatives in uplifting economically disadvantaged communities.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Biranchi Das, Director (Personnel), SECL; Rakesh Vaid, Senior Vice Chairman, ATDC; Dr Vijay Mathur, Director General and CEO, ATDC; and Alok Kumar, General Manager (Civil/CSR), SECL, among others.
