Lucknow: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has won two awards for 'Excellence in Exports' and 'Excellence in Contribution Towards Positive Social Impacts (CSR)' at the annual 'Aerospace & Defence Awards 2020' organised by International Aerospace.

BEL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Gowtama MV received the awards on the behalf of BEL from Lt Gen (Retd) Satish Dua at the awards ceremony held in Lucknow on February 4. On the occasion, Trilok Desai, Managing Director (MD) and Publisher of SAP Media Worldwide Limited, was also present.

BEL achieved an export sale of US$ 21.6 million during 2018-19. The company is giving increased thrust to harnessing the export potential of its products and systems. BEL is also exploring civil markets for smart cities, solar power generation, etc, in developing and third-world countries.

The CSR projects undertaken by BEL contribute to inclusive growth and equitable development in society through capacity building measures, empowerment of the marginalised and underprivileged sections and communities. The major thrust areas of BEL's CSR activities are healthcare, preventive healthcare & sanitation, education & vocational skill development, environmental sustainability & ecological balance, protection of national heritage, art & culture, promoting rural & Olympic sports and rural area development.
