Kolkata: Coal India Limited (CIL) has extended CSR support of Rs 50.32 crore to Odisha State Disaster Management Authority for the restoration of transmission line in the state. The company provided this fund under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to restore three 220 KV and two 132 KV power transmission lines which were damaged by cyclone 'Fani' at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.
CIL's Chairman and Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Sumanta Chaudhuri presented the cheque to Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik. Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Ashish Singh Upadhyay and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited's (MCL) CMD BN Shukla were also present on the occasion.
CIL is a Maharatana PSU under the Ministry of Coal and has its headquarters in Kolkata, West Bengal. It is the largest coal-producing company in the world. The company contributes to around 82 percent of the coal production in India. It has seven subsidiary companies.
