CSR: HSL organises 4-day free eye checkup camp in Vizianagaram

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) in collaboration with the Shankar Netralaya Foundation, organised a 4-day free eye checkup camp in Peda Medapalli village

New Delhi: Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) in collaboration with the Shankar Netralaya Foundation, organised a 4-day free eye checkup camp in Peda Medapalli village, Mentada Mandalam, Vizianagaram District, starting from Deceember 15.

The camp was inaugurated by Cmde Rakesh Prasad (Retd.), Director (CP&P) of HSL, with P Appala Naidu, Sarpanch, Radhakrishnan, General Manager of the Shankar Netralaya Foundation, D Srinivas Rao, General Manager of HSL & Chairman - CSR and Inaitula Baig, CS of HSL were present at the event. The initiative aims to provide vision care to underserved communities.

On December 15, over 150 villagers received free eye tests, and the checkups will continue until December 18. The camp will identify individuals needing cataract surgery, with HSL funding 100 surgeries. Additionally, 100 people will receive new eyeglasses based on their prescriptions by December 18.

Cmde Rakesh Prasad (Retd.) praised the Shankar Foundation's efforts to eliminate avoidable blindness in rural areas and assured ongoing support. K Radha Krishnan expressed gratitude to HSL for conducting the camp in remote Vizianagaram.

This humble CSR initiative highlights HSL’s commitment to public health and the well-being of the local community.
