NMDC funds 10 mobile medical units in Ballari district of Karnataka

NMDC has devoted a budget of Rs 10.26 crores for three years out of which Rs 171 Lakhs was released as the first installment

New Delhi/Karnataka: NMDC Limited's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Sumit Deb flagged off 10 mobile medical units (MMU) to facilitate access to public healthcare in Sandur and Hospet taluks, at Donimalai complex Karnataka recently. The ceremony has been attended by Member of Parliament (MP) of Ballari Devendrappa, MLA Sandur E Tukaram, Deputy Commissioner of Ballari SS Nakul (IAS), CEO of Zilla Panchayat Ballari KR Nandini (IAS) and NMDC's Director (Production) PK Satpathy,  Chief General Manager (Donimalai Complex) Sanjeev Sahi.

The operation of MMU has been instituted by Nakul, the Deputy Commissioner of Ballari. NMDC Limited has partnered with state authorities to provide the requisite funds for the operation of 10 mobile medical units. NMDC has devoted a budget of Rs 10.26 crores for three years out of which Rs 171 Lakhs was released as the first installment. The MMUs, natively called Amrutha Vahini, will provide basic healthcare facilities at the doorstep of people living in remote, vulnerable, and under-served regions.

Deb said, "NMDC makes sincere efforts to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of people living in and around the mines. Taking a step further in this direction, the Mobile Medical Units will increase the accessibility of medical care in remote areas like Sandur and Hospet. We are grateful to the state authorities for this noble opportunity and their cooperation."
