CSR Watch: BEL contributes Rs 2.26 crores in PM CARES Fund

New Delhi: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has contributed an amount of Rs 2.26 Crores to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

BEL has in the last two years contributed Rs 15.45 crores from its CSR Funds to PM CARES Fund, in support of the government's concerted efforts in dealing with the challenges arising out of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The employees of BEL had earlier contributed their one day's salary amounting to Rs 2.71 crores to the PM CARES Fund.

BEL is a Navratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence. It has achieved a turnover of about Rs 15,000 crore (provisional & unaudited), during the Financial Year 2021-22, against the previous year's turnover of Rs 13,818 crore. The Defence PSU achieved this feat despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and global semiconductors shortage.
