CSR Watch: IREDA dedicates 2nd mobile medical van for children with disabilities

New Delhi: Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Pradip Kumar Das on Friday flagged off the second "Therapy-on-Wheels," a mobile medical van for children with disabilities as part of IREDA's CSR initiatives. "Therapy-on-Wheels" was awarded as an innovative practice in accessibility at the Zero Conferences at UN Headquarters in Austria in February 2022.

IREDA CMD PK Das handed over the keys of the mobile medical van to Samphia Foundation (a Kullu-based NGO) in presence of senior officials. "Therapy-on-Wheels", a well-equipped therapy setup provide Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to children with disabilities. The Therapy Van actively promotes disability awareness and education. An in-built projector helps in educating the local population on the importance of early detection and intervention of disabilities. The Therapy bus goes to villages where children are located and provide therapy intervention to children at their doorsteps.

Speaking on the occasion, Das reaffirmed that, as a responsible public sector company, IREDA is committed to social causes in empowering differently abled children apart from the development of the Renewable Energy sector. CMD praised the efforts of the company's CSR Team and Samphia Foundation for this innovative project in Kullu and Shimla and stated that similar efforts would continue in the future.

IREDA had provided 1st "Therapy-on-Wheels" bus to Samphia Foundation in November 2020. More than 1,750 therapy sessions have been conducted in 61 villages of Kullu, Himachal Pradesh through this mobile medical van.
