CSR Watch: NRL MD inaugurates paediatric oncology ward at BBCI

New Delhi: The 'paediatric oncology ward' of Dr B. Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) developed by NRL under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program at a cost of Rs 2 crore has been inaugurated by Numaligarh Refinery Limited's (NRL) Managing Director (MD) SK Barua in presence of BBCI's Director Dr AC Kataki and senior officials of both the organisations on the auspicious occasion of International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD).

Comprising of four wards and a play arena,  multiple hi-tech facilities such as ventilators, 12 channel ECG machine, patient monitor, defibrillator with paediatric paddles, portable ultrasound with echo (shear machine), mobile X-ray with DR unit, five functions paediatric patient bed, air handling unit with air conditioners, medical gas pipeline system and patient transfer facilities have been provided.

Other that the infrastructure and equipment provided for cancer care, the play arena that has been developed will serve to elevate the psychological parameters of children undergoing treatment. The newly inaugurated paediatric oncology ward by NRL is expected to facilitate and support children in combating the disease with better treatment and care at BBCI.
