CSR Watch: NTPC Talcher Kaniha inaugurates community infrastructure projects

NTPC Talcher Kaniha has inaugurated and handed over three community infrastructure projects worth Rs 133 lakh for public use as part of its CSR initiatives

Talcher Kaniha: NTPC Talcher Kaniha has inaugurated and handed over three key community infrastructure projects for public use as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, as part of its commitment to sustainable rural development in the region.

The projects include the construction of an earthen embanked pond at Balangi village, a rest room at the Derang village community building, and a 650-metre-long concrete road at Derang Majhi Sahi. An expenditure of Rs 133 lakh was incurred for the execution of these initiatives.

The infrastructure facilities have been inaugurated by Rudra Narayan Pani, Member of Parliament, Dhenkanal, and Ashok Mohanty, MLA, Pallahara, in the presence of K. Narasimha Reddy, Executive Director, NTPC Talcher Kaniha. Senior officials of NTPC, including Navneet Kumar, Head of HR, along with village sarpanches, local representatives and residents, were also present.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries lauded NTPC Talcher Kaniha’s sustained efforts towards community development and underscored the role of infrastructure in improving living standards and promoting inclusive growth in rural areas.

The newly constructed pond at Balangi village is expected to support water conservation, irrigation and fish cultivation, aiding agricultural sustainability. The rest room facility at Derang will enhance community amenities, while the concrete road at Derang Majhi Sahi will improve connectivity and ease of movement for residents.

NTPC Talcher Kaniha reiterated its focus on need-based and sustainable CSR interventions across education, healthcare, sanitation, livelihood enhancement, women empowerment and rural infrastructure, contributing to the socio-economic development of project-affected and nearby villages.
