CSR Watch: Power Grid lays foundation stone for Vishram Sadan in Odisha

Vishram Sadan at MKCG Medical College & Hospital, Berhampur in Odisha is being built under Power Grid's CSR initiative at a cost of Rs 15 crore

New Delhi: Power Grid has laid the foundation stone for the Vishram Sadan at Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati (MKCG) Medical College & Hospital, Berhampur in Odisha on November 29. This 'Vishram Sadan' is being built under Power Grid's corporate social reasonability (CSR) initiative at a cost of Rs 15 crore.

Power Grid's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) K Sreekant and MKGC's Principal & Dean Prof Abani Kanta Mishra laid the foundation stone for the Vishram Sadan in the presence of Power Grid's Executive Director (Odisha Projects) Alok.

"Being built under CSR initiative of Power Grid at a cost of Rs 15 crore, this Vishram Sadan will cater the medical needs of about 5000 patients on daily basis coming from eight districts in Odisha, and nearby areas," Power Grid said in an official statement.

This 200-bedded Power Grid Vishram Sadan will be constructed inside the campus and will mitigate hardships faced by patients and their attendants. Power Grid has already established three Vishram Sadans at AIIMS Delhi, IGIMS Patna & KGMU Lucknow and six Vishram Sadans are in various stages of construction.

As a responsible corporate citizen, Power Grid has not only been ensuring reliable transmission of power, but is also committed towards society through its CSR activities.

Power Grid presently has 264 sub-stations and 172,104 ckm and 464,292 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of the latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, Power Grid has been able to maintain average transmission system availability >99%.
