CSR Watch: Power Grid to provide a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine to Himachal Pradesh

Power Grid has signed an MoU with the Governor of Himachal Pradesh for providing a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine in Kangra under its CSR initiative

New Delhi: Power Grid has signed an MoU with Governor of Himachal Pradesh, through Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kangra, Himachal Pradesh for providing a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine in Kangra on Tuesday under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The MoU has been signed in presence of the Speaker of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Vipin Singh Parmar, Minister for Health and Family Welfare of Himachal Pradesh Rajiv Saizal, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Himachal Pradesh Rajinder Garg, former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shanta Kumar, Power Grid's Director (Personnel) VK Singh, Power Grid's Chief Executive Director (CSR) TC Sarmah, Power Grid's Executive Director (Northern Region-II) Kailash Rathore and other senior officials from Government of Himachal Pradesh and Power Grid.

The MoU has been signed by Dev Kumar, Senior General Manager (Himachal Pradesh) on behalf of Power Grid and Dr Gurdarshan Gupta, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Kangra District on behalf of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.

As a responsible corporate citizen, Power Grid has been extending support to various infrastructure activities of Himachal Pradesh through its CSR efforts. Earlier a truck-mounted sewer jetting machine, litter picking machine, truck mounted sweeping machine with a vacuum cleaner and truck-mounted compactor were handed over to Municipal Corporation, Shimla costing Rs 1.98 crore.

Further, one SPV mounted vacuum-assisted road sweeper, two sewer cleaning jetting machines costing Rs 1.31 crore had been handed over to Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Manali, District Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Apart from this, 3,250 solar LED street lights and 13,000 twin bins dustbins costing Rs 11.49 crore, have been supplied and installed in various parts of Himachal Pradesh.

Besides, Power Grid had also undertaken efforts for skill development for local youth in district Lahaul and Spiti, through infrastructure additions & capacity building in the field of mountaineering & allied activities worth Rs 32 lacs. As part of CSR efforts, four Medical Mobile units costing Rs 1.06 crore to Bilaspur District Authorities, two ambulances in IGMC Shimla and District Hospital, Chamba, costing Rs 19 lacs have also been provided in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

With the signing of this MoU, Power Grid has cumulatively contributed Rs 21.65 crore (approx.), under CSR, during the last four years in Himachal Pradesh.
