CSR: ECL distributes 50 sewing machines among women

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has distributed 50 sewing machines to women from economically backward classes to become self-reliant

New Delhi: Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, has distributed 50 Sewing Machines among women from economically backward classes to become self-reliant. The sewing machines were given to underprivileged women from Kajora, Panveswar, Kenda, Mugma, Sonepur Bazari, Jhanjra, Kunustoria, Kajora, Satgram areas of ECL by Officers Wives Society, ECL – Dishergarh Trishakti Mahila Mandal. This initiative also intends to help them make masks to fight the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The humble sewing machine, with its subtle contribution in making reusable masks for the masses, has returned as a hero and a symbol of self-reliance once again. This information has been shared by the coal PSU in a tweet on Saturday.

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) is a Miniratna PSU and a subsidiary company of Coal India Limited. The company was founded in 1975 after the nationalisation of coal mines in India. It operates coal mines in Jharkhand and West Bengal. It inherited all the private sector coal mines of the Raniganj coalfield. It is one of the fully owned subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. The company has its headquarters in Sanctoria, West Bengal.
