Foundation Stone laid for PowerGrid Vishram Sadan

Ranchi: Chief minister of Jharkhand, Raghubar Das laid the foundation stone of 'PowerGrid Vishram Sadan' at RIMS Ranchi in presence of the Chief Guest, R. K. Singh, Hon'ble Union Minister of State (IC) for Power, New & Renewable Energy, and Minister of State Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at RIMS, Ranchi on Sunday. This project is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of PowerGrid.

Addressing the gathering, R.K. Singh said, "I want to congratulate PowerGrid for undertaking this noble work through CSR for the poor. Such Vishram Sadans will be constructed by PowerGrid in seven cities of the country so that the poor do not suffer. Apart from 24×7 nursing, there is also a need for emotional support from relatives and as the poor patients and their families cannot afford hotels for stay, therefore these Vishram Sadans are much needed. It will be a great benefit for the poor patients and their relatives coming from far off places." CM Radhubar Das praised PowerGrid for this CSR effort and the Government of India, for power development and social & economic welfare schemes in the state of Jharkhand.

PGCIL initiated CSR projects worth 35 Cr in Jharkhand

This is about Rs. 15 Crore project that will have 5 floors and with a capacity of 245 beds, it will also include facilities like dining area, canteen, water cooler, grocery stores etc. About 3000 patients and their relatives visit RIMS daily, for treatment who will get the benefit from 'PowerGrid Vishram Sadan' immensely. In recent years, about 33 projects of about Rs. 35 crores have been initiated under CSR by PowerGrid in the state of Jharkhand. Ram Chandra Chandrawanshi, Health Minister, Jharkhand, Sanjay Seth, MP, Ranchi, Jitu Charan Ram, MLA, Kanke, Ravi P. Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, PowerGrid, other dignitaries & senior officials from PowerGrid and RIMS were present on this occasion. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PowerGrid), the 'Central Transmission Utility (CTU)' of the country and a 'Navratna' Company, is engaged in power transmission business with the responsibility for planning, coordination, supervision and control over inter-state transmission system and operation of National & Regional Power Grids. PowerGrid owns 1,53,635 ckm of transmission lines, 243 substations with a transformation capacity of 368,512 MVA.
