Girl Empowerment Mission: NTPC Unchahar distributes bicycles to rural girls

New Delhi: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, NTPC Unchahar organised a bicycle distribution program for rural school-going girls participating in the ‘Girl Empowerment Mission’ (GEM) 2025. The objective of the program is to encourage education among girls and take concrete steps toward their empowerment.

On this occasion, the Chief Guest Harshita Mathur (IAS), District Magistrate of Raebareli, motivated the girls to move forward with hard work and self-confidence to shape a brighter future. She stated that the campaign will not only be a memorable experience for the girls but will also play a significant role in building their personalities. Appreciating NTPC’s commitment to social responsibility and sensitivity, she mentioned that such efforts provide new strength to girl child education and self-reliance in rural areas. DM Harshita Mathur also assured that NTPC Unchahar has always stood alongside the district administration for the development of the region.

Abhay Kumar Srivastava, Executive Director and Head of Project, NTPC Unchahar, welcomed the initiative and remarked that the bicycles will ease the school and coaching journeys for the girls, helping them advance toward greater career heights. He inspired the participants with the mantra “Victory lies beyond fear,” encouraging them to face challenges boldly and move ahead in all circumstances.

The program was graced by several dignitaries, including Anupama Srivastava, President of Priyadarshini Ladies Club, NTPC Unchahar; Dilip Kumar Sahu, General Manager (Operations & FM); SU Haridas, General Manager (Maintenance & Administration); Ranjita, Senior Member, PDLC; Ruma De Sharma, Head of Human Resources; Rajesh Srivastava (SDM Unchahar); AC CISF representatives; officials from unions and associations; senior officers; and members of the PDLC committee.

NTPC’s initiative not only provides progressive opportunities for education and self-reliance among girls but also creates awareness and empowerment within the broader community.
